Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Network Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's active network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in LAN, WAN, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall management, with a focus on proactive maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting. This role requires hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch configurations, Wi-Fi access points, and network security tools like IDS/IPS. The Network Administrator will ensure the network's reliability, security, and performance while maintaining up-to-date documentation and performing firmware updates.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management & Monitoring:
  • Monitor and manage LAN and WAN performance to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) switches.
  • Configure and maintain VLANs and ensure proper segmentation.
  • Administer Internet Lease Line (ILL), MPLS, Broadband
  • Administer the DHCP, DNS Servers along with Server admin
  • Firewall & Security Administration:
  • Configure and manage firewalls, including rule creation, VPN setup, site-to-site VPN, SD-WAN, internet sharing, and NAT configurations.
  • Monitor and manage IDS/IPS systems to ensure robust network security.
  • Coordinate with vendor wherever next-level support is required and get the issue resolved in a timely manner.
  • Escalate and involve higher management wherever required.
  • WiFi Administration:
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain WiFi access points to ensure strong and reliable connectivity.
  • Proactive Maintenance:
  • Conduct firmware and software updates for switches, firewalls, and other network equipment.
  • Regular backup of the configuration.
  • Perform periodic network health checks and capacity planning to avoid bottlenecks.
  • Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve escalated network issues.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, inventory, and configurations.
  • Prepare reports on network performance and incidents.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
  • Implement and enforce network security policies and best practices.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the network architecture.


 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in network administration and support.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Layer 2 & Layer 3 switches
  • VLAN and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP)
  • Internet Lease Line (ILL), Broadband, MPLS.
  • DNS, DHCP
  • Firewall configuration (e.g., Fortigate, Sophos, Cisco)
  • VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL)
  • SD-WAN
  • WiFi access points administration, WiFi Controller
  • IDS/IPS systems
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and reporting.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions for network configurations.
  • Relevant certifications like CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent.
