CMR University (CMRU), Bangalore is a private university in the state of Karnataka, established under the Act 45 of 2013. The University fosters creative communities where new ideas are nurtured, new discoveries made, and new creations shared. CMRU works with the vision “To nurture creative thinkers who will drive positive global change.” CMR University aims to promote and undertake the advancement of university education across a plethora of disciplines viz architecture, design, engineering, law, management, economics & commerce, social sciences & humanities, education, and science studies. The University also aims to equip students with the required skills and knowledge to pursue a successful career in their chosen field of study.
Role Overview:
The Pro Vice Chancellor will provide strategic leadership and oversee the academic, research, and administrative functions of the university. You will be responsible for fostering critical thinking, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing the university's global reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the university's strategic vision and goals.
- Oversee academic programs, faculty development, and student welfare.
- Promote research excellence and foster collaborations with industry partners.
- Enhance the university's infrastructure and facilities.
- Represent the university at various national and international forums.
Required Qualifications:
For Computer Science Background:
- Doctoral degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
- 20-25 years of extensive experience in higher education administration, preferably at a leadership level (e.g., Director or Dean level).
- Must have held a cadre position not lower than a Professor for at least 5 years;
- Strong understanding of emerging trends in technology and digital innovation.
- Proven track record in research and publication.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
For Liberal Studies Background:
- Doctoral degree in a field within Liberal Studies (e.g., History, Philosophy, English, Sociology, etc.).
- 20-25 years of experience in higher education administration, preferably at a leadership level not lower than a cadre position of Professor with 5 years and must have held Director/ Dean level for at least 3 years
- Strong understanding of liberal arts education and its role in a holistic curriculum.
- Proven track record in research and publication.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Both Roles):
- A strong network of academic and industry leaders.
- A passion for innovation and entrepreneurship.
- For Liberal Studies: Experience in fundraising and resource mobilization.
