What we are looking for

Role: SQL Database Administrator

Experience Range: 5 – 7 Years

Location: Bangalore/Chennai

Must-Have:

  • Good knowledge of MS SQL platform.
  • Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, and production usage
  • Knowledge on PG Sysbase.
  • Proven working experience as an Oracle Database administrator.
  • Working knowledge across multiple infrastructure components with strong experience on the database perimeter.
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle RDBMS (all versions) architecture & design.
  • Managing Primary DBA roles for multiple applications.
  • Migrate database, monitoring tools, scheduling tool, middleware, interfaces, and applications.
  • Establish, revise, and maintain standards and procedures.
  • Provide performance tuning services.
  • Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances.
  • Troubleshoot database and application issues.
  • Define & manage standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security, and performance.
  • Control migration of database changes through the development life cycle.
  • Install new versions of the database and its tools and any other tools that access the database.
  • Participate and provide expertise in system capacity planning efforts.
  • Evaluate releases of databases and its tools, and third-party products.
  • Provides technical support to application development teams.
  • Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots with problems regarding the databases.
  • Create new Microsoft SQL Server instances and configure them, including AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering.
  • Facilitate brainstorming meetings with clients to review, analyse, and assess business systems and needs.
  • In charge of database backup and recovery methods, database access security and integrity, physical data storage design, and data storage administration.
  • Assists in the selection of a database management system and the maintenance of database performance.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement.
  • Download and install SQL Server service packs and updates.
  • Configure and maintain SQL Security controls.
  • Make recommendations for system architecture per Microsoft SQL Server best practices.
  • Manage database backup and recovery, as well as disaster recovery planning, in coordination with the IT manager and System Engineer.
  • Create, change, and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plans.
  • Proactively monitor SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes, and address issues as soon as possible.
  • Troubleshoot application sluggishness and poor performance.
  • In charge of T-SQL query tuning.
  • In charge of database migrations and server updates.
  • Create documentation and training for routine database administration activities, as well as train server operations employees on them.
