Technical Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
Proven experience (5+ years) in database administration, with a focus on SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
Deep understanding of database concepts, including relational database design, normalization, and indexing.
Proficiency in SQL programming and scripting languages (e.g., T-SQL, PL/pgSQL).
Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler, pg_stat_statements).
Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
Familiarity with database backup and recovery procedures.
Experience with database replication, clustering, and high availability configurations.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or PostgreSQL Certification are a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL database systems.
Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of database systems through proactive monitoring and optimization.
Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Design and implement database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and data masking.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, including query optimization and index tuning.
Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database schemas, stored procedures, and functions.
Implement and maintain database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.
Conduct regular patching and upgrades of database software to ensure security and stability.
Create and maintain documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Provide technical support and guidance to developers and other stakeholders on database-related issues.
Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in database administration and advocate for their adoption when applicable.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and maintenance tasks.
Secondary Skills:
Agile process knowledge will be an added advantage.
