Job Title: Cloud Architectural Expert

Role Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Java engineer with hands-on experience in functional programming, microservices architecture, and cloud deployment patterns.

This role requires a deep understanding of modern Java capabilities, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native development.

You will be part of a high-performing team delivering scalable backend solutions for a global financial services leader undergoing a major modernization effort.

  • Design and Implement Microservices: Utilize modern Java functional programming concepts to design and implement microservices.
  • Event-Driven Systems: Collaborate on event-driven systems using Kafka and apply architectural patterns like Choreography, Strangler, and Sidecar.
  • Code Reviews and Knowledge-Sharing: Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Cloud Deployment: Develop and deploy applications in GCP or other public clouds using services like Cloud Run, GKE, GCS, etc.
  • Clean Code Principles: Write clean, testable, and scalable code with emphasis on readability and maintainability.
  • Modern Java Features: Contribute to the adoption of modern Java features, including Pattern Matching, Records, and Record Patterns.
  • Deployment Patterns and CI/CD Pipelines: Demonstrate a foundational understanding of deployment patterns and CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments.
Technical Requirements:

Core Java & Functional Programming:

  • Deep understanding of Java Streams, Functional Interfaces, Lambda expressions, Supplier, Consumer, Function, and reduce operations.
  • Experience with newer Java features (preferably Java 17+; familiarity with Java 21 is a plus).
  • Proficiency in immutable data structures, pure functions, and clean code principles.
Microservices & Architecture:

Strong Knowledge of Microservices Design Patterns:

  • Choreography (Kafka-based)
  • Strangler Pattern
  • Sidecar Pattern
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka or other message brokers in an Event-Driven Architecture (EDA).
Cloud & DevOps:
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications in GCP or another cloud provider (AWS, Azure).
  • Familiarity with Cloud Run, GKE, GCS, or equivalents in other clouds.
  • Understanding of deployment automation, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD best practices.
