Job Summary

:

As a key member of the Bechtel Corporation team, the Financial Reporting Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting for India, Gulf, Egypt, and other African and European region entities. This position will lead the audit team in fulfilling audit compliances and will interface with statutory auditors, direct tax, and indirect tax consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex and/or ad-hoc tasks that require decision-making and provide guidance to the team in assigning work and addressing day-to-day operational issues.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve various accounting, tax, and financial reporting issues collaboratively with Regional/Country Controllers, Project Accountants, FSMs, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in reviewing General Ledger transactions and provide support in reviewing moderate to complex month-end and year-end transactions and Journal Ledger closing procedure.
  • Prepare moderate to complex summary reports and/or financial statements.
  • Assist in reviewing moderate to complex standard financial reports (e.g., balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) prepared by the team according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in reviewing account reconciliations prepared by the team and reconcile general ledger balances for assigned balancing segments, which requires specific experience due to the nature of the account and complexity involved.
  • Ensure that monthly supporting schedules are prepared in a timely manner and are reviewed for compliance with established procedures.
  • Initiate and complete corrective action to ensure that outstanding items in account reconciliations are cleared promptly.
  • Assist in reviewing assigned compliance activities performed by the team to ensure filing deadlines are met. At times, prepare complex tax compliance reports and schedules.
  • Scrutinize ledger transactions to ensure accuracy of tax compliance reports and schedules.
  • Assist in reviewing a variety of recording and reporting documents and summaries to verify accuracy and conformance with specific functional, corporate, contract, government, or professional accounting requirements.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries into accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
  • Identify training requirements and provide trainings as well as technical guidance to the team.
  • Review project journals in accordance with established Bechtel policies and procedures, client requirements, and applicable government regulations.
  • Support the Supervisor in leading and assigning work to the team.
  • As a subject matter expert of sub-vertical, constantly identify process improvement opportunities and provide support in developing new solutions/process improvements and process documentation.
  • Consistently identify and provide necessary process training and provide help to the Supervisor in assessing the performance of the team.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and at least 6-8 years of accounting experience. CA (Inter).
  • Chartered Accountant will be an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of financial reporting and financials.
  • Basic skills in the areas of oral and written communications, MS Office suite of applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Thorough knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Should possess knowledge of WHT, Service Tax, and Corporate Tax. Good analytical skills.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have audit experience in a fairly large organization, in terms of interaction and coordination with the auditors for the finalization of statutory financials.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable accounting methods.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, conscientious, and function well in a team environment.
  • The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable and have the ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and maintain composure under stress.
  • The ideal candidate must be a 'self-starter' capable of working independently, taking initiative identifying and resolving issues, managing workload, and handling correspondence.
  • The ideal candidate must possess good organization skills, ability to provide constant attention to detail, and have the ability to apply quality control over a heavy volume of work with tight deadlines. The candidate is expected to maintain confidentiality of all information entrusted to the position.
