Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Collins Aerospace is seeking a skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will actively participate in conceptual and detailed design of new product development, redesign, and technology programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering fundamentals and experience with CAD software such as CATIA V5 and Siemens NX. You will be responsible for designing and developing engineering solutions that meet cost, safety, and sustainability requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting trade studies and performing tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Designing and developing mechanical components and sub-systems
  • Providing inputs to improve processes, tools, and products
  • Supporting manufacturing concessions and engineering change requests

We are looking for a motivated and innovative individual who can work effectively in a team environment and contribute to the development of optimized product designs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge in mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • 3-7 years of industry experience in mechanical design activities, conceptual design, detail design, and preparing engineering drawings
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience using CAD software such as CATIA V5 and Siemens NX
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and heat treatment processes
