Liability Underwriter Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Liability Underwriter with extensive experience in Financial Lines, focusing on creating and implementing underwriting strategies that drive sustainable growth and profitability.

This senior role involves managing a portfolio of financial lines business, working closely with clients and brokers to deliver high-quality results. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and commercial acumen with strategic thinking capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and analyze financial lines business, developing underwriting strategies that align with our goals.
  • Structure, price, and negotiate treaty and facultative reinsurance arrangements to maximize value.
  • Review submissions, assess risk exposure, and provide tailored solutions to meet client needs.
Portfolio Management
  • Grow and maintain a profitable book of business by monitoring market trends, claims experience, and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to product development and portfolio diversification initiatives to stay ahead of the market.
Market & Client Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cedents, brokers, and internal stakeholders through effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, negotiations, and industry forums to establish thought leadership.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in liability/financial lines underwriting (insurance or reinsurance) with a deep understanding of the Indian market.
  • Strong technical expertise in D&O, PI, Cyber, and other specialty liability products, as well as knowledge of treaty and facultative structures.
  • Graduate/postgraduate degree, preferably with professional qualifications.
