Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to oversee our day-to-day technical operations and ensure the seaworthiness of our vessels.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversight of day-to-day technical operations, including monitoring vessel reports and analysing performance/defects.
  • Promptly tracking vessel reports, ensuring prompt and effective closures, including observations raised during internal/external audits and inspections.
  • Maintenance of PMS compliance and authenticity, proposing database and system improvements.
  • Preparation of annual operating budgets, control of operating costs including fuel, lubes, consumables etc.
  • Liaising with classification societies and Flag authorities as necessary for certification and documentation maintenance.
  • Coordinating procurement of spares and critical equipment with most cost-effective options.
  • Planning and supervising dry-docking, repairs, technical projects, including upgrades/retrofits and major maintenance.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to onboard crew, including new equipment.
  • Conducting periodic physical inspection of vessel for assessment of condition/crew/IMS.
  • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions, proposing improvement in procedures and manuals.
  • Demonstrating strong understanding of TMSA and Rightship requirements and implementation.

Requirements

  • 10-12 years experience in the shipping industry on large sea-going vessels with international trading experience and a minimum of 2 years sailing experience as a Chief Engineer.
  • Prefer at least 2 years of shore experience as Superintendent.
  • Strong understanding of TMSA and Rightship requirements and implementation.
  • Experience of having worked on cranes and grabs (for bulk carriers).
  • Work experience on ME engines will be preferred.
