Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and administer our database systems.

  • Analyzing existing database systems and recommending improvements
  • Collaborating with the IT Manager to establish database security structures and Sox compliance
  • Managing and maintaining Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Administering and monitoring Apache Kafka clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security
  • Performing database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning
  • Developing and maintaining automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management
  • Collaborating with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms
  • Implementing and maintaining security best practices across all data platforms
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues across the data stack in a timely manner

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 6 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  2. Outstanding academics with demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
  3. Fluency in English is required
  4. Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies
  5. Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively
  6. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
  7. Consistently demonstrating quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
  8. Experience with Big Data Technologies supporting a broad variety of solutions including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server
