Role and Department Overview

The Corporate & Investment Banking Front Office is a key business unit within Wells Fargo, delivering a suite of capital markets, banking, and financial products and services to corporate, commercial real estate, government, and institutional clients across the globe. As a trusted partner to its clients, the team provides corporate and transactional banking, commercial real estate lending and servicing, investment banking, equity, and fixed income solutions, including sales, trading, and research capabilities.

Job Summary

The CIB Portfolio Manager role is a critical position within the Fund Finance Group, which provides financing to private equity funds and asset managers through structured and syndicated credit facilities. As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for developing a credit understanding of our clients and collateral, developing an understanding of our structured products, and preparing credit risk reports. You will work closely with Global Portfolio Managers located in Charlotte, New York, and London to drive portfolio performance, align it with the Bank's long-term financial goals, and ensure effective risk management and growth strategies are in place.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our clients and collateral, including risk assessment through scenario analysis and financial analysis review.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly reports and credit risk reports for Senior Risk Management forums.
  • Review ongoing client reporting to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial calculations, including covenants and collateral value.
  • Understand legal documentation and infer legal opinions to request relevant Credit approval.
  • Develop and maintain advanced MS Excel skills, including filtering conditions, v-lookup, pivot-tables, and slicers.
  • Maintain various databases and spreadsheets for internal reporting.
  • Track and report on financial trends of the borrowers and underlying collateral.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of CIB Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • At least an MBA or a CA, or an equivalent qualification.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in credit analysis, corporate lending, or structured finance in a bank or rating agency.
  • Experience in writing detailed credit memos/papers is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely speak on complex topics.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to manage and navigate across investor underwriting/modeling data.
  • Basic understanding of legal terms used in banking.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and as part of a globally distributed team.
