As a Structural Design Specialist, you will play a crucial role in creating and implementing structural design plans for commercial buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and document seismic design strategies for new and existing structures, including peer reviews and checks.
  • Utilise advanced software tools such as Revit and CAD to create detailed designs and 2D/3D models.
  • Collaborate closely with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical services teams to resolve interface issues, manage loads and maintenance requirements, and ensure constructability.
  • Conduct thorough value engineering analysis to improve the cost-effectiveness and buildability of structural designs.
  • Lead internal design reviews, verification/validation, and quality assurance processes to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, architects, builders, and fabricators to ensure seamless project execution and stakeholder satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Professional degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • At least 5 years' experience in commercial structural engineering, preferably in the Australian market.
  • Demonstrated expertise in seismic analysis and design, with a proven track record of successful implementation.
  • Strong understanding of modular framing systems and ability to detail standard welded sections for fabrication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian codes and standards, including NCC, AS/NZS 1170, AS 4100, and AS 3600.

Key Competencies:

  • Structural design (steel, concrete, secondary/supporting systems).
  • Seismic design and detailing.
  • BIM coordination and clash resolution in Revit; model federation and standards compliance.
  • Detailing of standard welded sections, platework, and connections for fabrication.
  • Interface management with mechanical equipment loads, supports, vibration, and maintenance clearances.
