Category Manager - FMCG Job Description
\The role of a Category Manager involves managing the team for a designated region. This includes overseeing the management of National & Regional FMCG brands, leading a team of members, and conducting training sessions.
\Main Responsibilities:
\- Manage categories for an entire region comprising approximately 20-30 stores
- Lead a team in buying National & Regional FMCG brands
- Conduct classroom training and On-The-Job training for team members
- Groom and develop team members reporting to him/her
- Coordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores
- Meet key vendor partners on regular basis for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives
- Work closely with various teams including Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase, and Central purchase
- Discuss and close Monthly and Quarterly plans with FMCG vendors
- Responsible for training and grooming Purchase officers and Asst Purchase managers
- Avoid stockouts and ensure smooth supplies to stores
Requirements:
\- Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 Years experience in FMCG Sales
- Experience in General Trade is preferred
- Knowledge of local language/location of posting is required
- Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Strong team management and training skills
