Category Manager - FMCG Job Description

\

The role of a Category Manager involves managing the team for a designated region. This includes overseeing the management of National & Regional FMCG brands, leading a team of members, and conducting training sessions.

\

Main Responsibilities:

\
  • Manage categories for an entire region comprising approximately 20-30 stores
  • Lead a team in buying National & Regional FMCG brands
  • Conduct classroom training and On-The-Job training for team members
  • Groom and develop team members reporting to him/her
  • Coordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores
  • Meet key vendor partners on regular basis for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives
  • Work closely with various teams including Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase, and Central purchase
  • Discuss and close Monthly and Quarterly plans with FMCG vendors
  • Responsible for training and grooming Purchase officers and Asst Purchase managers
  • Avoid stockouts and ensure smooth supplies to stores

Requirements:

\
  • Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 Years experience in FMCG Sales
  • Experience in General Trade is preferred
  • Knowledge of local language/location of posting is required
  • Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team management and training skills
