Storage Infrastructure Engineer

As a vital component of our technology team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our storage infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Storage System Engineer to design, implement, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems that meet our data storage and management needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, configure, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems to ensure compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform storage capacity planning and provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Monitor storage performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing data placement.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for storage administration tasks.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and end-users, troubleshooting and resolving storage-related issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 10 years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • 8 years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
  • 8 years of experience with storage virtualization technologies and concepts, including DASD, VTS, and SAN/NAS storage provisioning.
  • 8 years of experience with storage networking protocols and technologies, such as FICON, Fibre Channel, and SCSI.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Technical V2 or equivalent certification in Mainframe storage administration.
  • 5 years of experience with Mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
  • 4 years of experience utilizing DevOps practices and tools for Mainframe storage administration and automation.
