Job Overview

Occupational health professionals are required to conduct regular assessments of the work environment, identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate them.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workplace Risk Management: Conduct regular workplace risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to prevent injuries and illnesses.
  • Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that all relevant regulations under the Factories Act and state laws are met.
  • Health Procedures Development: Develop and implement general and occupational health procedures in line with industry standards and best practices.
  • Referral Services: Collaborate with local hospitals and specialists to provide referral services to employees.
  • Guidance and Support: Provide guidance and support to management in addressing and correcting occupational health issues.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Pre-Employment Medical Exams: Conduct pre-employment medical examinations to ensure fitness for deployment.
  • First Aid Care: Provide first aid care, including emergency medical treatment.
  • Statutory Health Checks: Conduct statutory health checks and coordinate visits from certifying surgeons.
  • Medicine Inventory Management: Maintain a safe and effective medicine stock and inventory system, including specific antidotes at the Occupational Health Centre.
  • Health Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of employee health data, trends, and advice.
  • Health Education: Impart health education on occupational hazards, first aid, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and safety.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement plans to manage any medical emergencies that may arise.

Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: MBBS degree and Diploma in Industrial Health (DIH) or Certificate of Training in Industrial Health recognized by the state government.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-8 years of experience in managing OHC in an industrial setup.
