National Chess Strategist

Job Description

As a National Chess Strategist, you will be responsible for developing a nationwide chess program that utilizes chess as a tool to enhance problem-solving skills, metacognition, and joy across classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Architecture: Define the Chess Program Vision & Roadmap (K-8) with clear outcomes (tactical fluency, strategy, endgames, metacognition, executive function, communication, SEL).
  • Curriculum Development: Design plug-and-play lesson kits (Do-Now puzzles, micro-lessons, exit tickets) for weekly periods, create Cross-Curricular Micro-Kits (10–15 min) for Math/ELA/Science/CS/Art, and localize early-years materials.
  • Classroom Integration: Develop strategies to effectively integrate chess into existing classroom curricula, ensuring seamless alignment with learning objectives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Expertise in Chess Instruction: Proven experience in teaching chess to students of various ages and skill levels.
  • Curriculum Development: Ability to design engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with educators, administrators, and other stakeholders.
