About This Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned DMSII database administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases on Unisys mainframes.

This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in DMSII database administration, performance monitoring, and data management to drive seamless operations.

  • Installation and Configuration: You will perform installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases with ease.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor database performance, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes to ensure seamless operations.
  • Data Management: Manage sets, subsets, and indexes to guarantee efficient data access and minimize downtime.
  • Backup and Recovery: Handle database backups, journals, and roll-forward recovery procedures to maintain data integrity and recover from disasters.
  • Capacity Planning: Assist in capacity planning to ensure data integrity across environments and prevent data loss.
  • Troubleshooting: Work closely with application and system teams to troubleshoot performance or access issues and resolve them efficiently.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security, audit trails, and user access controls to meet regulatory requirements and protect sensitive data.
  • Documentation: Document DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and training.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • DMSII Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration, including DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Journaling and Backup: Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery to maintain data integrity.
  • Performance Tuning: Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues to optimize database performance.
  • Mainframe Integration: Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration to support cross-functional teams.
  • Batch Jobs and ODBC/JDBC: Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks, including basic experience in ODBC/JDBC integration with DMSII.

Becoming a Part of Our Team

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Skillset: Good communication and problem-solving skills, with willingness to work in rotational support shifts (if required).

  • Modernization Projects: Exposure to modernization projects (migrating from DMSII to RDBMS/cloud) to leverage existing expertise.
  • SQL/Relational Databases: Knowledge of SQL/relational databases for cross-skill flexibility and adaptability.
