Engineering Operations and Maintenance Specialist

Responsible for overseeing and managing all engineering and maintenance operations, including facilities upkeep, budgeting, capital projects, and asset protection.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; 3 years of experience in engineering and maintenance, or a related field, with technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major; 1 year of experience in engineering and maintenance, or a related field, with technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing.
  • Core Work Activities:
  • Physical Plant Management:
  • Manages equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Ensures Regulatory Compliance:
  • Maintains regulatory requirements for facility safety and standards, ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations.
  • Energy Conservation and Budget Control:
  • Develops and implements strategies for energy conservation and economical facility operations, while controlling heat, light, and power costs.
  • Service Contracts Administration:
  • Develops specifications and requirements for service contracts and administers such contracts to support building needs.
  • Preventive Maintenance and Repair Work Orders:
  • Distributes and monitors timeliness and quality of completion for preventive maintenance and repair work orders.
  • Grounds and Property Maintenance:
  • Oversees and directs the maintenance of grounds, guestrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational facilities.
  • Long-Term Preventative Maintenance Plan:
  • Develops and oversees execution of a long-term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection.
  • Project Planning and Execution:
  • Develops project plans in accordance with renovation or new construction needs, contacts contractors for bids, and supervises construction to ensure timely completion within budgetary guidelines.
  • Relationship Building:
  • Builds positive relationships with external customers, vendors, and city authorities.
  • Fire Safety and Emergency Response:
  • Ensures fire crew has complete understanding of all procedures, equipment, and alarms.
  • Monthly Property Inspection:
  • Conducts monthly property inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition.
  • Guest Satisfaction:
  • Conducts regular guest room and common area inspections to ensure guest satisfaction.
