Job Title: Advanced AS/400 Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide expert-level support for our client's AS/400 system. This role requires in-depth knowledge of IBM AS/400 systems, including COBOL, RPG programming, and DB2 databases.

About the Role:
  • This is a contract-to-hire position with an immediate start date.
  • The successful candidate will have 6-9 years of experience working with IBM AS/400 systems.

Mandatory Skills:

IBM AS/400, COBOL, RPG Programming, DB2 databases, L2/L3 Support

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide advanced level support for our client's AS/400 system.
  2. Experience with IBM AS/400 (COBOL, RPG III, RPGILE, SQLILE, CLLE).
  3. Understand the business purpose of the AS400 application and the overall processes/functions it supports.
  4. Familiarize with the system architecture diagram of the AS400 application, including its interface mechanisms with upstream and downstream systems.
  5. Document the various AS400 environments (e.g., Production, Pre-prod, Test, Dev), OS levels, and database versions.
  6. Perform a walkthrough of complex, critical, or error-prone COBOL, RPG code modules, including any customized routines.
  7. Understand how the AS400 application integrates with other systems.
  8. Knowledge of the current monitoring mechanisms, log directories, and housekeeping processes on AS400 servers.
  9. Identify applicable compliance and regulatory requirements for the AS400 system and ensure adherence.
  10. Document dependencies with L2/L3 support teams and interactions with infrastructure teams for AS400.
