Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study the current data integration landscape and assess its impact on new project requirements.
  • Develop Spark jobs using Scala for new projects, and enhance existing ones as needed.
  • Optimize Spark job performance through stress testing and other means.
  • Create new data pipelines using AWS Lambda or Apache Airflow.
  • Design databases, including logical and physical design, star schema, and snowflake schema.
  • Analyze data processing, integration, modeling, and reporting requirements.
  • Define data loading strategies considering volume, data types, frequency, and analytics specifications.
  • Balances cost and performance optimally.
  • Creates project documentation and adheres to quality guidelines and schedules.
  • Collaborates with project managers for successful project delivery and provides estimation, scoping, and scheduling assistance.
  • Manages the build phase and ensures code quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7-9 years of IT experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in AWS-related projects.
  • Associate Level and Professional Level AWS Certification is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including S3, EC2, EMR, Serverless, Athena, AWS Glue, Lambda, Step Functions.
  • Cloud databases: Must have AWS Aurora, Singlestore, RedShift, Snowflake.
  • Big Data: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, YARN.
  • Programming languages: Scala, Python, Shell Scripts, PySpark.
  • Operating systems: Any flavor of Linux, Windows.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Orchestration tools: Apache Airflow.
  • Expertise in ETL workflows, complex transformations like SCD, deduplications, aggregations.
  • Understanding of AWS VPC, Subnets, Security Groups, Route Tables.

  • Demonstrated continued learning through technical certifications or related methods.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud-related projects.

  • Prior experience in a large media company is an added advantage.
