Job Title:

Climate Adaptation Expert

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate climate adaptation priorities into national frameworks to ensure alignment with international agreements and development goals.
  • Conduct climate vulnerability assessments across sectors including agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems.
  • Apply climate models to inform strategic planning and prioritize adaptation responses.
  • Identify and size effective adaptation measures with clear outcomes, timelines, and cost estimates.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of proposed interventions and map relevant financing sources.
  • Support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation initiatives.
  • Foster inclusive stakeholder engagement involving government agencies, civil society, youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
  • Align adaptation strategies with sustainable development objectives.
  • Contribute to the design of monitoring systems in line with enhanced transparency requirements.
  • Draft technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in climate science, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated involvement in developing national climate plans, particularly in developing country contexts.
  • Proficiency in conducting climate vulnerability assessments.
  • Experience working with climate models and interpreting risk projections.

 

Preferred Attributes:

  • Prior experience supporting national governments in climate strategy development.
  • Background in climate and sustainability consulting or advisory roles.
