Staff Accountant Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting in the reconciliation of bank, merchant, and credit card transactions. This role is part of an accounting team that is accountable for producing timely and accurate monthly financial statements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To reconcile and settle all types of financial transactions on a monthly basis.
  • To prepare and post merchant fee statements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • To maintain and reconcile third-party payment processor statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • To file and record all documents and receipts as per accounting standards.
  • To perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • A Chartered Accountant (CA) or Semi-Qualified Chartered Accountant certification is mandatory.
  • An Associate Degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred if additional to CA qualification.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting or a relevant field is preferred.
  • Education or coursework may be accepted in place of professional experience.
  • QuickBooks experience is highly desirable.

Additional Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of basic accounting principles is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
