We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our finance team at Sciometrix. This role involves overseeing complex financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and contributing to the financial strategy of the organization.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, advanced financial management skills, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurate recording of all financial transactions in the general ledger and related accounts.
  • Regular reconciliations of bank statements, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate and enhance accounts payable processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control.
  • Identify and implement automation tools and best practices to streamline accounts payable operations.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for accounts payable processes.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements related to accounts payable.
  • Conduct regular audits of accounts payable transactions and processes to ensure compliance and address any potential issues.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.

Vendor Relationship Management:

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and negotiating payment terms.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors, managing vendor statements and resolving any discrepancies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with procurement, legal, and other departments to resolve any accounts payable-related issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members, and collaborate with other finance staff to achieve departmental goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CA/CPA or other relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (Quickbooks, Salesforce, NetSuite).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data analysis techniques.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with accounts payable automation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of financial practices is a plus.
  • Experience in a high-growth or technology-focused company is advantageous.
