Job Summary

The AVP-Legal will be a key member of the Legal leadership team, working closely with the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO) to drive strategic decision-making and provide expert legal advice.

  • Provide sound legal guidance on various complex issues, influencing business strategies and operations.
  • Lead litigation strategy, manage outside counsel relationships, and oversee all legal aspects of company business.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to achieve successful outcomes in funding transactions, corporate deals, contracts, M&A, and litigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Corporate Deals: Lead equity deals, ensure closure, and address outstanding issues with third-party vendors.
  • Contracts: Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts with EPC vendors, suppliers, consultants, and other third parties.
  • M&A/Corporate Finance: Defend indemnity claims, draft responses, and support Corporate Finance in SPV governance and relationship management with investors.
  • Litigations: Support strategic decision-making and lead litigations as advised by the GCLO or management.
  • Business Acquisition: Review bid documents, issue risk analyses, vet bid proposals, review communications, and conduct due diligence on acquired entities.
  • Policy Advocacy: Provide general legal advisory on strategy, interpretation of regulations, and review proposed standard bidding documents or amendments.
  • Process Formulation: Develop SOPs and strategy documents to streamline processes and mitigate company risk exposure.
  • Legal Advisory: Offer day-to-day legal guidance to business teams and support policy advocacy efforts.

Requirements:

  • A law graduate from a reputable law school.
  • At least 15 years of work experience in multinational companies, preferably in power/infrastructure/energy sectors.
  • Strong commercial understanding of power/energy business and government tenders/projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
