Piping Design Manager - Team Lead


About the Role:

The Piping Design Manager will be responsible for leading a team of piping engineers and designers, overseeing the development of piping layouts, isometrics, support drawings, MTOs, and related documents. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of piping engineers and designers.
    • Allocate resources, monitor workloads, and ensure efficient execution of deliverables.
    • Drive technical excellence and capability development within the team.
  • Design & Engineering Management:
    • Oversee the development of piping layouts, isometrics, support drawings, MTOs, and related documents.
    • Ensure designs comply with international codes & standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ASTM, etc.) and project specifications.
    • Review and approve design documents, drawings, and calculations.
    • Ensure 3D model reviews (using PDMS / SP3D / E3D / AutoPlant / CADWorx) are carried out effectively.
  • Project Execution & Coordination:
    • Plan and monitor piping design activities, schedules, and budgets for assigned projects.
    • Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, and Electrical teams.
    • Interface with clients, consultants, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Quality & Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and engineering best practices.
    • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in all design activities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and standardization.
    • Implement digital tools and design automation practices for efficiency improvements.
