Senior Manager - Design and Engineering, Solar EPC

The Senior Manager–Design & Engineering will be primarily responsible for reviewing, validating, and approving engineering designs and drawings prepared by external engineering consultants for ground-mounted solar EPC projects. This individual will ensure technical accuracy, compliance with applicable standards, optimization for cost and performance, and smooth integration with project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design Review and Validation
  • Review and validate drawings, designs, and engineering documents submitted by consultants (including SLDs, GA drawings, layouts, and equipment sizing).
  • Ensure compliance with IEC/IS codes, MNRE, DISCOM, and CEA requirements.
  • Evaluate designs for constructability, safety, and long-term performance.
  • Verify PVsyst reports, energy yield assessments, and equipment selection.
  1. Approval and Coordination
  • Provide timely technical approvals of consultant deliverables.
  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, and statutory bodies for design clarifications and approvals.
  • Ensure engineering documents are aligned with project BOQ, specifications, and contract requirements.
  1. Project Execution Support
  • Guide the project and construction teams by clarifying design-related queries.
  • Monitor implementation to ensure adherence to approved designs.
  • Review as-built drawings and handover documentation.
  1. Optimization and Risk Mitigation
  • Identify design gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities in consultant submissions.
  • Recommend value-engineering measures to optimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency in the final design.
  1. Leadership and Teamwork
  • Lead internal engineering review meetings.
  • Mentor junior engineers in design review processes.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with procurement, execution, and quality teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Power/Renewable Energy.
  • 10-15 years of experience in solar EPC projects, with significant exposure to design review and approvals.
  • Strong knowledge of PV system design (DC & AC side), grid connectivity, substation interface, and protection systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PVsyst, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Proven ability to manage consultants and ensure quality deliverables.
