Job Summary

The Buyer Planner II is a key member of the Elliot Group team, responsible for directing and controlling the planning, processing, and scheduling activities related to Elliott parts and product orders. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate pre and post-contract requirements in accordance with customer and Elliott specifications.
  • Utilize existing and new computer-assisted systems to establish schedule priorities, evaluate shop loads, and maintain the optimum level of inventory to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Plan and purchase assigned commodities within the Focused Factory and commodity management function.
  • Adhere to Company and Purchasing policies and ensure procurement of material and services at the most advantageous value with required quality at required time.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the Department Operations Manual in support of Elliott Quality and ISO.
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree or minimum of 7 years buying and/or planning and scheduling experience.
  • Excellent general background in all phases of planning and purchasing, as well as commodity management and strategic sourcing.
  • Strong knowledge of Company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment with strengths in production and inventory control, capacity and materials requirements planning, and production activity control.
  • High degree of expertise and knowledge of ERP systems utilizing MRP and capacity management.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and geometric drawings, as well as ability to estimate material needs and shop labor hours.
Working Conditions

The Buyer Planner II will work within the Focused Factory and will assess project-related material and component requirements, coordinate with manufacturing to determine make or buy decisions, and provide pull signals to engineering, design, and drafting for the appropriate technical product information and drawings.

Regular contact with all Focus Factory personnel, Focus Factory Centers of Excellence, and other departments within the company as appropriate. Frequent contact with suppliers, principally their management. Cross-Functional Team membership is expected. There may be travel required in support of supplier activities, which could be frequent.
