We are seeking an accomplished database expert to lead the modernization of legacy systems and design robust, scalable databases. This role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our data infrastructure is secure, efficient, and well-prepared for growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, high-performance database solutions using leading technologies such as SQL Server.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and storage management best practices.
  • Lead database capacity planning, disaster recovery strategy, and backup/restore processes to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Implement and enforce rigorous database security controls, including encryption, access controls, and auditing mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support software releases and schema changes while ensuring seamless database integration.
  • Automate routine database operations using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools to enhance efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Manage and troubleshoot replication, clustering, and failover configurations to guarantee high availability and uptime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and standards for database systems to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
  • Evaluate emerging database technologies and provide recommendations for adoption to drive innovation and improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience in database administration, design, and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in SQL Server, with a strong working knowledge of other relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Strong proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and performance analysis tools.
  • Experience with HA/DR solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication).
  • Solid understanding of database security, compliance (e.g., PII, PCI), and role-based access control.
  • Proficient in automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating DB changes into DevOps workflows.
  • Experience in cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., Redgate, SolarWinds) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL systems (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB, Redis) is an asset.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the financial services industry is an advantage.
