Overview of the Role

The company is looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to migrate its legacy .NET monolith to a modern, event-driven architecture using Java Spring Boot microservices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and Development: The successful candidate will architect, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable Java Spring Boot microservices.
  2. Legacy Code Migration: The engineer will analyze existing .NET code that integrates with the loan servicing platform, understand its business logic, and lead its migration to the new Java stack.
  3. Event-Driven Architecture: This involves decommissioning the legacy .NET message broker and implementing a modern event-driven system using cloud-native technologies like Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
  4. Cloud-Native Solutions: The successful candidate will build and deploy services using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies, including Cloud Functions, Spanner, and Firestore.
  5. Code Quality and Deployment: The engineer will write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code. They will own the entire development lifecycle, demonstrating confidence in taking features to production through a robust CI/CD pipeline.
  6. System Analysis: The successful candidate will go beyond the user story to develop a deep understanding of the entire system, identifying dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  7. AI-Powered Migration: Utilizing AI-based tools and methodologies, the engineer will assist in the analysis, translation, and refactoring of legacy .NET code, improving the efficiency and accuracy of the migration.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend software development, with a strong emphasis on enterprise-level systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework.
  • Professional experience with .NET (C#), with a demonstrated ability to read, understand, and reverse-engineer legacy codebases.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically with services like Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Spanner, and/or Firestore.
  • A deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design patterns.
  • Proven experience working with message brokers and event streaming platforms (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub).
  • A strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
