| About the role:

The AI Engineering team transforms how millions of people access personalized nutrition and care.

As a Staff AI Engineer, you will design and deploy solutions that drive real-world impact by tailoring communications, improving engagement, and reducing missed appointments.

You will:

  • Develop Scalable Backend Applications: Design and deploy high-performance backend applications using TypeScript, Node.js, and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Build APIs and Microservices: Develop and maintain APIs and microservices that enable real-time and batch inference of AI/ML models.
  • Fine-tune Models: Fine-tune and adapt pre-trained models (e.g., LLMs, classification models) for specific business use cases.
  • Integrate External Services: Integrate external AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, Google Vertex AI) where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams—ML engineers, software developers, product managers, and DevOps—to deliver end-to-end AI-powered features.
  • Contribute to MLOps Workflows: Contribute to MLOps workflows, including deployment, versioning, and monitoring of models in production.
  • Follow Best Practices: Follow engineering best practices for clean code, testing, observability, and reliability.
  • Stay Up-to-date: Stay up to date with advancements in AI tooling and infrastructure to continuously improve system performance and model impact.

You are:

  • A strong backend engineer with experience building robust systems and a passion for applied AI.
  • Proficient in Node.js, TypeScript, and SQL, with experience delivering production-grade services.
  • Familiar with deploying and integrating ML models into applications, including fine-tuning pre-trained models.
  • Comfortable working across backend systems and AI pipelines.
  • A team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive about writing secure, maintainable, and scalable code.

You have:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of backend development with TypeScript and Node.js
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying AI/ML models (e.g., Hugging Face, OpenAI, or similar frameworks)
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and experience using PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Exposure to MLOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, or Airflow
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
