IPLegal Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) legal specialist to join our team. As a key member of our IP department, you will be responsible for protecting our iconic brand and its suffix brands, copyrights, and trademarks.

  • Protecting our brand assets and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Supporting innovation in products and designs by working closely with our R&D leadership.
  • Structuring risk mitigation processes to prevent IP breaches during product development.

You will work closely with our R&D leadership to ensure that our products and designs are protected and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Patents Management
  • Advising on patentability, evaluating inventions with inventors, and analyzing issued or pending patents to assess infringement risks.
  • Drafting specifications covering techno-legal aspects of patentable inventions.
  • Reviewing changes suggested by inventors and suggesting modifications or extensions.
  • Examining patents, preparing responses to examination reports, and managing hearings before patent examiners.
Managing Brands (Trademarks and Copyrights)
  • Conducting trademark availability searches and providing advisory services on TM registration.
  • Registering trademarks in India and globally, coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Promptly conducting trademark watches in trademark journals and taking action against similar trademarks.
Managing Designs
  • Conducting comprehensive Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) searches.
  • Advising business on design registrations, ensuring registration and coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Design prosecution management and timely renewals.
Portfolio Management
  • Managing different IPR portfolios, including patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and copyrights.
  • Updating records, tracking, and managing the life cycle of IPR portfolios.
  • Archiving and retrieving IPR documents.
  • Conducting IPR awareness training.
Counterfeit Actions
  • Acting on leads provided by external agencies and initiating prompt action.
  • Conducting raids through external agencies.
  • Developing an information network and reporting counterfeit activities.
  • Preparing reports based on feedback from raids and submitting internally.
