Job Title: Principal Structural Engineer

We are seeking a skilled structural engineer to work on high-profile infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing structural solutions that meet client requirements.

• Prepare detailed designs and calculations for various structural elements, including foundations, steel structures, and concrete structures.
• Perform analysis and design using industry-standard software, such as Space Gass, STAAD Pro, SACS, Tekla, E3D, or S3D.
• Develop a strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS) and international codes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, including piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Produce high-quality civil and structural drawings, specifications, and design calculations.
• Calculate loads and select structural members based on forces and service demands.
• Design structural solutions for industrial, commercial, and institutional projects, with a focus on delivering innovative and cost-effective solutions.
• Develop a variety of structural connections, including unique connections caused by field interferences.
• Verify field conditions and constructability of designs, resolving problems during construction as needed.
• Interpret and apply domestic and foreign structural building design codes.
• Develop familiarity with standard company drawings, specifications, and general practices.
• Produce reports, designs, and drawings, maintaining the highest level of accuracy and quality.
• Redline drawings for designers and review updated submittals for accuracy.
• Establish effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
• Maintain a high level of self-checking efficiency, following internal quality control processes.
• Report progress of work assignments to immediate supervisors, demonstrating an understanding of project schedules and budget requirements.
• Communicate effectively with internal peers and project teams, providing clear answers regarding deliverables.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, accurately predicting time requirements for individual scopes of work.
• Cooperate with lead offices in Australia as required.
• Actively participate in the design process, contributing valuable input throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Lead Engineers or Project Managers in Australia.
• Integrate Health & Safety principles into all work practices, adhering to company policies.
• Support the company's approach to sustainability.
• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Be willing to learn and adapt.
• Identify opportunities to enhance WSP services to clients, completing accurate timesheets by set deadlines.

• Maintain excellent colleague relationships and contribute to the team's performance of client satisfaction.
• Participate in knowledge sharing within internal and external forums.
• Stay up-to-date with market and competitor knowledge.

We anticipate you will have an interest in the following areas:

• You will also be proficient in MS office suite and Navisworks.
• Have a thirst for knowledge, cultural awareness, an open mind, and good English (both written and verbal).

• A valid passport is required.

• Prior experience in Australia is highly preferred.
• Candidates with a minimum 14-18 years of experience in consulting firms in an EPCM environment in O & G, Power, Mining processing industries will be given preference.

Preference will be given to candidates with engineering design and shop detailing or site experience in steel, concrete structures.

• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments with strict deadlines.
• Effective leadership capabilities, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team or independently.

• 14-18 years of experience in structures engineering.
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, with a master's degree in civil/structure engineering being preferred.
• Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with LEAN environments.
• Experience with projects in Australia, New Zealand would be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Chartered Engineer (C. Eng), Professional Engineer (P. Eng) qualifications would be an added advantage.
