Telecommunications Engineers play a vital role in developing and publishing designs to support projects. They undertake detailed designs relating to ICT and Telecommunications Systems, including:

  • Structured Cabling Systems (SCS)
  • Communications Rooms and supporting systems
  • Outside Plant Infrastructure (OSP)
  • Active ICT Networks
  • Wireless LAN and Wi-Fi modelling
  • RF Systems
  • Technology platforms and systems

Responsibilities include preparing reports, specifications, calculations, and drawings to enable the tendering of works to a suitably qualified integrator/contractor. The successful candidate will also be required to mentor junior engineers and work within a multi-discipline design team.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading, producing, and checking ICT and Telecommunications designs, preferably in critical environments. Underpinning knowledge of Network design principles is essential, along with experience working with various systems and subsystems, such as:

  • Telecommunications Network (FTN and FTNx)
  • Structured Cablign Systems (Fibre and Copper)
  • Active Network Design (Cisco, Aruba, Dell, etc)
  • Sever and SAN solutions
  • Firewalls and network protection systems
  • Multiprotocol Label Switching Networks (MPLS)
  • IP-CCTV Systems
  • EN54 Public Address and Voice Alarm Systems
  • Integrated Station / Building Management Systems (ISMS, IBMS)
  • CIS
  • IP based Access Control Systems
  • Multi-mode Intruder Detection Systems

The position requires expert use of telecommunications design packages and proficiency in MS Office. Familiarity with health & safety and systems engineering/design assurance requirements is also necessary. Strong communication, organisational skills, and ability to lead teams are key requirements for this role.
