Oracle Database Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Oracle database specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c or newer) across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries, indexes, and database configurations for improved performance.
  • Backup and Recovery Strategies: Implement robust backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, or other backup tools to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Database Security: Ensure databases are secure by managing user roles, permissions, and ensuring compliance with security best practices and organizational standards.
  • High Availability Solutions: Implement and manage high availability solutions like Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and standby databases for disaster recovery.
  • Capacity Planning and Resource Optimization: Work with teams to forecast database storage needs and optimize resources as required for scaling.
  • Database Upgrades and Patch Management: Perform regular database patching, upgrades, and migrations to ensure systems are running the latest, most secure Oracle versions.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Management: Provide proactive database monitoring and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues affecting database performance and availability.
  • Automation and Scripting: Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
  • Database Performance Tuning: Perform routine database optimizations such as reorganization, partitioning, and indexing to maintain performance and reduce downtime.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and other teams to ensure that database systems align with business and technical needs. Document processes, procedures, and best practices for internal reference.
