Job Role:

The Engineering Manager oversees engineering and design matters on projects, providing support to project leaders. They fulfill three key roles: manager, technical leader, and communicator.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scope Definition & Change Management:
  • Develop the scope of work and establish an effective change management system.
  • Progress Reporting & Issue Management:
  • Contribute to the monthly progress report regarding design progress, issues, and recommended changes to achieve project objectives.
  • Project Execution Planning:
  • Collaborate in developing the project execution plan with project leadership and allocate roles and responsibilities.
  • Client Communication:
  • Maintain contact with client managers at key milestones to ensure engineering deliverables meet client requirements.
  • Engineering Oversight:
  • Direct and review engineering activities to ensure satisfactory work quality and conduct technical personnel development programs.
  • Specialist Expertise Involvement:
  • Involve specialist expertise from within or externally as necessary and collaborate with technology organizations and discipline heads for reviews.
  • Safety Awareness & Design for Safety:
  • Promote safety awareness and apply design for safety principles to projects.
  • Risk Management:
  • Conduct risk assessments and address identified issues.
  • Design & Engineering Reviews:
  • Arrange and facilitate design reviews and participate in engineering and management reviews as required.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Coordinate quality audit verifications to ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities and instigate corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Postgraduate or graduate degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Registration as a professional engineer is preferred.
