Role Overview:

  • Team Leadership: Oversee a team of skilled data engineers, providing guidance, mentorship and fostering a collaborative environment to drive innovation.
  • Strategic Architecture: Design and oversee large-scale data infrastructure projects using Databricks, Apache Spark and Snowflake, ensuring scalable solutions that meet business needs.
  • ETL/ELT Development: Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for performance, reliability and scalability, guaranteeing efficient data delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, data scientists and software teams to translate requirements into actionable, efficient data solutions.
  • Data Governance: Implement best practices for data quality, security, compliance and integrity.
  • Process Enhancement: Drive continuous improvement of data engineering processes, standards and tools across the organization.
  • Technical Support: Contribute to pre-sales activities through RFPs, technical proposals and client engagements, showcasing expertise in data infrastructure.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on emerging data technologies and trends, recommending innovative solutions to enhance analytics capabilities.
  • Resource Management: Manage resource planning, project prioritization and delivery timelines to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps and champion professional development within the data engineering team.
  • Interdepartmental Communication: Facilitate seamless communication between teams to streamline data workflows and improve overall delivery.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 18 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 12 years in leadership or senior technical roles.
  • Deep knowledge of Databricks and Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Scala or Java.
  • Extensive experience with cloud-based platforms like AWS, Azure or GCP, including S3, Redshift, BigQuery and Snowflake.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT design and data lakes.
  • Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Kafka and Databricks ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) and data governance best practices.
  • Proven experience managing high-performing teams and delivering complex data engineering projects on time.
  • Familiarity with analytics solutions and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience supporting pre-sales efforts and client technical discussions is a plus.
  • Bonus: Exposure to machine learning lifecycle and model deployment on Databricks.
