Bill of Materials Engineer, Pressure Management, Emerson, Chennai

We are seeking a skilled Bill of Materials Engineer to join our Pressure Management team in Chennai. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing customer purchase orders, transforming them into accurate Bills of Materials, and releasing orders to our manufacturing facility. You will also drive continuous improvement on metrics and ensure accurate technical order constructions in our business systems.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailing activities to communicate accurate Bills of Materials to manufacturing.
- Review customer orders technically, ensuring all orders are accompanied by required specifications, data sheets, and supporting documents.
- Validate pricing and commissions for standard and special constructions/products services.
- Communicate with internal sales teams, LBPs, Global Industry Sales, R&D Engineering, and Project Management to ensure proper form, fit, and function for Bills of Materials.
- Verify the completeness and correctness of product structures against technical specs and ensure selected products are suitable for services.
- Monitor order progress and escalate issues to ensure timely release of items to manufacturing.
- Provide high-level ownership of completed work through the production process, including items in manufacturing, assembly, and Bill of Materials-related questions.
- Support order engineers in preparing Bills of Materials for special valve constructions and initiate requests to R&D Engineering for new drawings as needed.
- Support change order owners in determining change order charges and delivery impact.
- Work with sales teams, operations teams, and other internal functions on customer requirements and resolve issues.
- Provide timely responses to order inquiries and act as a point of escalation when necessary.
- Responsible for providing monthly reports on unclean orders, new design requests, new part number creations, customer-specific processing, change order reports, and Right First-Time issue reports.
- Participate in and embrace continuous process improvements focused on systems and reporting.
- Create codification logic for special construction Finished Goods and standardize the process.
- Communicate with Emerson factories and strategic sourcing teams to price special components and maintain unit prices for newly created items and Finished Goods.
- Attach additional specs documents for newly created items, including parts drawings, engineering specs, and other relevant documents.
- Years of overall experience.
- Knowledge in SAP, Oracle Business System, Microsoft, or any other ERP system is mandatory.
- General understanding of quote-to-cash processes.
- Mechanical/Technical drawing interpretations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basics of SAP or any relevant ERP.
- Knowledge of Pressure Relief Valves and Regulators.
- Prior experience of + years in similar industries or in Bill of Materials functions.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Learning agility for fast learning of work processes.
