Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Bill of Materials Engineer to join our team in Chennai. As a key member of our Order Engineer team, you will be responsible for reviewing customer purchase orders, transforming them into accurate Bills of Materials, and releasing orders to our MEA factory. You will also drive continuous improvement on metrics and ensure accurate technical order constructions in our business systems.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Perform detailing activities necessary to communicate accurate Bills of Materials to Manufacturing.
- Review customer orders technically, ensuring all orders are accompanied by required specification/sizing sheets, data sheets, and other supporting documents.
- Validate pricing/commission for standard/special constructions/products services per internal guidelines.
- Communicate with internal sales teams, LBPs, Global Industry Sales, R&D Engineering, and Project Management to ensure proper form, fit, and function for Bills of Materials.
- Verify the completeness and correctness of product structure against technical specs and ensure selected products are suitable for service.
- Monitor order progress and escalate issues to ensure timely release of items to manufacturing.
- Provide high-level ownership of completed work through the production process, including items in manufacturing, assembly, and Bill of Materials-related questions.
- Support order engineers in preparing Bills of Materials for special valve construction and initiate requests to R&D Engineering for new drawings as needed.
- Support change order owners in determining change order charges and delivery impact.
- Work with sales teams, operations teams, and other internal functions on customer requirements and resolve issues.
- Provide timely responses to order enquiries and act as a point of escalation when necessary.
- Responsible for providing monthly reports addressing unclean orders, new design requests, new part number creations with customer-specific processing, change order reports, and Right First-Time issue reports.
- Participate in and embrace continuous process improvements focused on systems and reporting.
- Create codification logic for special construction Finished Goods and standardize the process.
- Communicate with Emerson factories/strategic sourcing teams to price special components and maintain unit prices of newly created items and Finished Goods.
- Attach additional specs documents (parts drawings, engineering specs) for newly created items as necessary.
- Utilize and understand global configuration tools of PRM products groups (regs & PRVs).
Who You Are:
You have good attention to detail and can review sales order requirements against engineering documents to produce high-quality Bills of Materials. You can identify the right part among a list of part numbers that look the same. You can identify discrepancies or conflicts based on engineering logics. You can communicate effectively with project engineers/application engineers to resolve issues with sales order requirements.
For This Role, You Will Need:
- 3 years' overall experience
- Knowledge in SAP, Oracle Business System, Microsoft, or any other ERP system is mandatory
- General understanding of quote-to-cash processes
- Mechanical/technical drawing interpretations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
- Basics of SAP or any relevant ERP
- Knowledge of pressure relief valves and regulators
- Prior experience of 2+ years in similar industry or in Bill of Materials function
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Learning agility for fast learning of work processes
