Pursue a Rewarding Career as a Bakery Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the bakery shop, ensuring efficient management and adherence to company policies.
  • Produce, quality-check, and present a variety of breads for use in menus, maintaining high standards of presentation and taste.
  • Collaborate with the Head Baker to forecast production, minimize food waste, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Assist in setting up bread displays in buffets, creating visually appealing arrangements that enhance the dining experience.
  • Maintain knowledge of US Public Health regulations and ensure compliance, prioritizing the safety and well-being of customers and staff.
  • Clean the bakery shop according to the Executive Chef's schedule, using proper methods to prevent equipment damage and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Prioritize preparation for USPH inspections by ship's management or inspectors, demonstrating commitment to excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Requisition necessary items from main stores to the bakery shop when required, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing disruptions to production.
  • Evaluate recipes and yields against company standards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to optimize productivity and quality.
  • Support the CDP Baker in completing daily consumption reports as needed, providing accurate and timely data to inform business decisions.
  • Provide assistance to guests and crew members with inquiries, delivering exceptional customer service and building positive relationships.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and other work-related activities as necessary, staying informed and engaged with industry developments and best practices.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Manage expenses and revenue targets, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and driving business growth.
  • Ensure cost containment through responsible use of resources and equipment, optimizing profitability and minimizing waste.

Motivational Responsibilities:

  • People management duties to optimize team performance, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Monitor workstation functions, assign tasks, and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and coaching to support growth and development.
  • Mentor and train staff to improve current performance and prepare for future advancement, investing in the success of team members and the organization as a whole.

Qualifications and Education:

  • At least three years' experience as a Baker in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention service (shipboard experience preferred), demonstrating expertise and a strong track record of achievement.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment usage, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • High school diploma or basic education equivalency required, with a focus on developing essential skills and competencies.
