Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

This is a high-level technical role that involves the management and maintenance of IT infrastructure to ensure its availability, stability, and performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to ensure the optimal functioning of datacentres, platforms, and corporate systems.

The team works closely together to achieve common goals and strives for excellence in all aspects of their work. They aim to deliver high-quality services while continuously improving processes and adapting to changing circumstances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • AIX Server administration and management
  • Storage array and SAN management
  • Backup, replication, HA, and recovery technologies
  • AIX Server security management
  • AIX Server hardware management
Organisational Structure:

This position reports directly to the Head of Infrastructure and is part of a larger team responsible for managing and maintaining all development, UAT, pre-production, production, and DR environments as well as internal corporate IT systems.

Team Objectives:
  • Ensure application availability when users need it
  • Ensure applications scale with user demand
  • Protect applications from unauthorized access and data loss
  • Maintain fault-tolerant applications with no single points of failure
  • Deliver value for money by improving application delivery and reducing costs per application
  • Implement new system delivery efficiently, on time, and within budget
Specific Role Responsibilities:
  • Ensure uptime SLAs are met every month by managing issue logs, performing scheduled maintenance, and managing third-party support contracts where required
  • Ensure performance SLAs are met every month by monitoring system performance, capacity, and growth, suggesting and implementing performance improvements and hardware/software refreshes
  • Ensure the network and systems are internally and externally secure by following existing policies and procedures, documenting for audit purposes as required by ISO27001, implementing security projects, completing risk assessments, and building guides for new and existing systems
  • Ensure FNZ-held data is secure and backed up by making regular backups, participating in yearly BCP & DR tests, ensuring new builds align with company requirements and departmental policy for resilience and availability, documenting resilience and backup plans for all new builds
  • Develop professional and technical knowledge and skills, provide technical advice and mentoring within the team
  • Implement new projects to meet project timelines and deadlines
Requirements:
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent industry certifications and experience
  • AIX operating system administration skills
  • Knowledge of automation scripting
  • Keen interest in and knowledge of latest server and storage technologies
  • Successfully implemented Infrastructure projects
  • Good team player with ability to work independently, take initiative, drive change, and adopt new technologies and methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, confident in dealing with internal and external clients
  • Passionate about providing excellent service experience for our clients
  • Superior problem-solving capabilities
  • Able to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent time-management skills – ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
