Database Administrator

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Couchbase Cluster Administration and Optimisation: We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to oversee the installation, configuration and maintenance of our Couchbase clusters. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Database Backup and Recovery: Our ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all data is properly backed up and recovered in the event of any issues.
  • Couchbase Index Creation and Management: The successful applicant will have expertise in creating and managing Couchbase indexes to ensure efficient query execution.
  • Architecture Design and Implementation: A key responsibility of this role will be to design and implement Couchbase architectures that meet business requirements.
  • Security Measures: Our database administrator will also be responsible for implementing and managing security measures within our Couchbase environments.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting common configuration issues in Couchbase clusters is a critical skill required for this position.
  • Data Replication: Managing cross data centre replication (XDCR) to ensure data consistency is an essential duty of this role.

  • Requirements:
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 4 years' experience in Couchbase database administration in production environments is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Couchbase databases, including cluster awareness, XDCR, optimizing Couchbase queries and indexes is crucial.
  • Troubleshooting Expertise: Excellent knowledge and experience in Couchbase troubleshooting is required.
  • Configuration and Maintenance: Ability to configure, optimize and maintain Couchbase clusters is a must.
  • Knowledge of HTTP Protocol: Awareness of HTTP protocol and REST principles is desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.
