Job Title: Senior GitLab System Administrator

Job Description:

1. Strategic Infrastructure Planning and Design: Develop strategic infrastructure plans to optimize the implementation of GitLab.
2. Team Collaboration and Liaison: Foster collaboration and liaison with internal and external teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and security standards.
3. GitLab Installation, Configuration, and Management: Install, configure, and manage GitLab on servers to meet business requirements.
4. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration Management: Leverage IaC tools to set up and configure required infrastructure and implement configuration management best practices.
5. Integration with Existing Tools and Services: Integrate GitLab with existing tools and services used by the corporation to enhance workflow efficiency.
6. Security Settings and Access Controls: Configure and manage security settings and access controls for GitLab to protect sensitive data.
7. CI/CD Pipelines and DevOps Practices: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Azure DevOps, and promote DevOps practices within the organization.
8. Training and Support: Provide training and support to team members and engineers on using GitLab effectively, and assist in the development of training materials.
9. Troubleshooting and Monitoring: Monitor and troubleshoot any issues with GitLab infrastructure to minimize downtime and ensure high availability.
10. Version Control, Code Review, and Collaboration Best Practices: Implement best practices for version control, code review, and collaboration using GitLab to enhance team productivity.
11. Adoption, Documentation, and Automation: Work closely with development teams to ensure successful adoption of GitLab, develop and maintain documentation, and implement automation scripts to streamline tasks.
12. Recommendations, Automation, and Container Orchestration: Recommend best practices around Microsoft Azure, GitLab, and assist with ad-hoc Azure DevOps queries, implement scripts and routines to automate mundane tasks, and provision and orchestrate container workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts.
13. Troubleshooting, Issue Resolution, and Collaboration: Perform troubleshooting of issues on infrastructure, resolve problems efficiently, and collaborate closely with the team to tackle tasks based on priority and requirements.
14. Advanced Security Features, Policies, and Compliance: Enable advanced security features such as DAST and API Fuzzing, create security and compliance policies that reflect departmental policies, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
15. Backup and Disaster Recovery Strategies: Configure backups and create disaster recovery plans for the GitLab platform to ensure business continuity.
16. Single Sign-On Authentication and Email Delivery: Implement Single Sign-On authentication and configure email delivery capabilities to enhance user experience.
17. Data Migration, Deployment Pipelines, and Search Capabilities: Perform migration of all data from the previous GitLab Self-Managed instance to the new one, implement deployment pipelines with incremental delivery capabilities, and install and enable advanced search capabilities on GitLab.
18. Security Hardening, Data Retention, and Standard Operating Procedures: Perform security hardening of the GitLab instance based on best practices, configure data retention policies, and create Standard Operating Procedures regarding OS and GitLab instance patching.
19. Deployment Operations, Encryption, and Webhooks: Contribute to deployment operations, ensuring that artefacts have been deployed to the various environments successfully, and set up encryption of databases and other software artefacts, create webhooks which perform administrative tasks on the platform.
20. DevOps Initiatives and Automated Scaling: Contribute and participate in all DevOps initiatives within the organization, and set up automated scaling is in place for the GitLab Runner infrastructure.
