Linux Support Engineer Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Linux Support Engineer to join our team in a mission-critical banking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality L2-level support for Linux, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI DSS, SWIFT, and local banking regulator requirements.
  • Implement ITIL processes (Incident/Change/Problem/Knowledge) for efficient issue resolution.
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents and manage approved platform changes.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement permanent fixes.
  • Optimize configurations and schedule jobs to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Coordinate vendor TAC cases, firmware/patch planning, and validate post-change health.
  • Maintain strong documentation, runbook hygiene, and clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Display ownership mindset with readiness for 24x7 support and on-call rotation.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and their applications.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and incident management tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
