The position of Head of Marine Insurance is a pivotal leadership role that oversees the implementation of marine insurance procedures across the company. This leader will serve as the primary point of contact for all marine insurance and claims related matters within the organization and with external entities.
- HOD Key Responsibilities
- Act as the authorized representative for all marine insurance and claims policies and functions.
- Represent the company in all marine insurance and claims matters.
- Risk Assessment & Policy Management
- Lead all insurance policy planning and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Make strategic decisions regarding the placement and renewal of all marine insurance lines.
- Claims Management & Settlement
- Oversee the entire life cycle of insurance claims, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with insurer protocols.
- Manage complex or high-value claims according to established approval structures.
- Team Performance Management
- Supervise and mentor MI&C team members directly.
- Foster an optimal departmental structure, delegation, and staff performance.
- Training, Development & Knowledge Management
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and procedural excellence within the MI&C team.
- Maintain an up-to-date digital repository of policies, procedures, claim trackers, and audit documents.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit Coordination
- E nsure the MI&C Department meets all internal and external compliance and audit requirements.
- Facilitate internal audits and external insurer audits, ensuring timely data submission.
- Vendor, Broker & Stakeholder Management
- Primary contact for marine insurance brokers, clubs, surveyors, and legal teams.
- Select and evaluate the performance of brokers and claims handlers.
- Reporting, Analysis & Strategic Inputs
- Provide leadership-level reporting and strategic direction based on risk and claim trends.
- Prepare risk reports and insurance summaries for executive review.
- Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Represent MI&C in interdepartmental coordination and emergency response.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on insurance issues.
- Emergency & Crisis Response Collaboration
- Ensure unified policy placement and claims management of the team.
- Act as the point of contact for brokers, insurers, and legal representatives.
