Job Title: Naval Architect

We are seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with our data scientists to build digital solutions for large container ships.

The role involves analyzing data, conceptualizing and building vessel digital twins, fuel consumption curves, and other hydrodynamic performance models. You will work closely with the project teams to guide them in understanding business requirements, translating these into actionable tasks, and helping build impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Analyze container ship operations data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement">
  • Conceptualize and build digital twins of large container vessels, including new and old ships in the fleet">
  • Identify relevant data needed to build digital twins and help guide data scientists in collecting and processing this data">
  • Build and guide data scientists in developing domain-specific knowledge and expertise">
  • Develop and implement digital twin models that include fuel performance curves, vessel hydrodynamic stability, and safety thresholds">
  • Model the impact of various factors on fuel consumption, including windage, vessel speed, drift, trim, heel, hull condition, propeller condition, engine condition, waves, wind, and currents">
  • Derive parameters like trim, metacentric height, and windage from various sources of base data">
  • Tactical solutions for avoiding parametric and synchronous rolling, including methods to alert concerned personnel with recommendations">
  • Develop AI/ML solutions that can recommend vessel speed, overconsumption alerts, fouling margins, and other insights">
  • Visualize vessel digital twins for end-users, as required by project deliverables">
  • Scan and recommend process improvements, statutory guidelines, and updates in areas related to digital twins and fuel consumption">

Requirements:

  • ">
  • 12-20 years of experience in naval architecture, including ship design, vessel digital twins, and fuel performance curves">
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in conceptualizing and building container vessel fuel consumption curves and other ship hydrodynamic performance models">
  • Hands-on experience in building or running solutions like vessel digital twins, vessel hydrodynamic simulations, and other similar projects">
  • Excellent appreciation and/or experience of data science subjects, including simulation, optimization, machine learning models, and other relevant areas">
  • Excellent consulting skills, including leadership in uncertain and ambiguous situations, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting">
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with experience in client-facing roles">
  • Ability to guide teams in developing analytics solution blueprints that balance business context and technical details">
  • Ability to analyze pros-and-cons of different analytic options and articulate such choices to technical and business audiences">
  • Confident in communicating with director/VP-level stakeholders and demonstrating executive presence in interactions with CXO-level stakeholders">
