Job Title: Technical Superintendent

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day technical operations and ensuring vessel seaworthiness. This involves tracking vessel reports promptly, analyzing performance and defects, and ensuring prompt and effective closures of observations raised during internal and external audits and inspections.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day to day technical operations and ensure vessel seaworthiness.
  • Track vessel reports promptly and analyze performance/defects.
  • Ensure compliance with Company IMS, international regulations (ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS etc) and all flag requirements.
  • Prepare vessels for oil major vetting/Rightship inspections and ensure readiness.
  • Monitor speed/cons performance and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain validity of all certification & documentation. Liaise with classification societies & Flag authorities as necessary.
  • Coordinate procurement of spares and critical equipment with most cost-effective options.
  • Plan and supervise dry-docking, repairs, technical projects including upgrades/retrofits and major maintenance.
  • Support onboard crew with technical guidance and training incl. new equipments.
  • Conduct periodic physical inspection of vessel for assessment of condition/crew/IMS.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of TMSA & Right ship requirements and implementation.
  • Experience of having worked on cranes and grabs (for bulk carriers).
  • Work experience on ME engines is preferred.
  • Promote a strong safety culture on board and in technical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental protection measures and fuel efficiency initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, or machinery failures, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements:

  • 10-12 years in the shipping industry on large sea-going vessels with an international trading experience and a minimum of 2 years sailing experience as a Chief Engineer.
  • Prefer at least 2 years of shore experience as Superintendent.
