Climate Adaptation Specialist

This role involves working with governments to integrate climate adaptation priorities into national frameworks and ensure alignment with international agreements. The Climate Adaptation Specialist will conduct assessments to identify vulnerabilities and risks across various sectors, including agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Integrate adaptation priorities into national climate frameworks
  • Conduct Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (CVRAs)
  • Apply climate models and risk analytics to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responses
  • Evaluate techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions
  • Support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation
  • Facilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Advanced degree in climate science or related field
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields
  • Key Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated involvement in developing or updating NDCs, LT-LEDS, or NAPs
  • Proficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategies
  • Strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways
  • Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms such as GCF, GEF, and bilateral donor programs
