Purchasing Manager

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement of high-quality aluminium scrap and ingots for our Aluminium Billet Casthouse.

This key role will focus on securing competitive prices, building strong supplier relationships, and ensuring a consistent supply chain for billet production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Strategy Development: Develop and execute procurement strategies for sourcing aluminium scrap and ingots from domestic and international suppliers.
  • Supplier Identification and Evaluation: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable scrap suppliers, traders, and recyclers ensuring quality and supply consistency.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts to achieve the best commercial value.
  • Market Trend Monitoring: Monitor market trends, LME pricing, and scrap availability, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure quality standards of procured scrap align with billet casthouse specifications and production requirements.
  • Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with logistics, stores, and production teams to ensure timely deliveries and inventory control.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier performance reports, and cost analyses.
  • Vendor Performance Monitoring: Implement vendor performance monitoring and develop long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and scrap handling norms.
  • Financial Management: Work closely with finance and accounts teams for vendor payments and reconciliations.
  • Audit Participation: Participate in internal audits, cost optimization initiatives, and supplier assessments.
  • Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly procurement reports to management, highlighting price trends, cost savings, and supply risks.
Candidate Profile
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Business/Engineering (MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in the aluminium industry, with minimum 5 years of proven expertise in buying aluminium scrap and ingot.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Strong knowledge of aluminium scrap grades, quality standards, and supply chain dynamics. Established network of aluminium scrap suppliers and traders in India (international exposure preferred). Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills. Ability to track and analyze global aluminium market trends and LME prices. Proficiency in SAP (MM Module) and MS Office for procurement and reporting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and internal stakeholder management.
  • Location: Willing to be based out of Mumbai, India, with occasional travel for supplier visits.
