Leading a team to manage and protect an organization's intellectual property portfolio is a key responsibility of this role. The Senior Manager will oversee the development and enforcement of our portfolio, working closely with other teams such as Portfolio, R&D scientists, and Regulatory Affairs.

This is a dynamic leadership position that requires strong strategic thinking skills and ability to collaborate effectively. The Senior Manager will identify opportunities for growth and develop strategies to protect our assets.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and managing our IP portfolio
  • Enforcing IP processes
  • Working closely with Global IP Head, Research and Development and Portfolio teams
  • Identifying patentable inventions
  • Drafting patents, freedom to operate reports, infringement and validity analysis, risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Filing and prosecuting inventive solutions
  • Monitoring and evaluating third-party scientific and patent publications
  • Providing IP-related inputs to support legal agreements and negotiations
  • Partnering with other legal and business functions
  • Managing patent, trademark, copyright and related issues
  • Maintaining appropriate record architecture and content
  • Educating management and scientists on current best practices
  • Leading, empowering and coaching a team of IP professionals
  • Preparing and managing the budget of the function

To succeed in this role, you will need a PhD or Post-graduate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences, with an additional specialization in Intellectual Property desirable. You should have at least 13+ years of experience in a reputable Global Pharmaceutical company with team handling skills, and experience in product IP clearances, patent drafting and prosecution, and ancillary areas in a pharmaceutical organization. Litigation, litigation support, and licensing experience are most desired. You must be well organized, detail-oriented and a team-player capable of working in a deadline dictated environment, and fluent in English, both written and spoken.
