Job Role - Health and Safety Consultant

The role of the H&S Consultant will be to implement health and safety practices, policies, and procedures within our Mumbai office location related to people, projects, and premises.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates:

1. Deliver a comprehensive induction program to new employees.
2. Provide general support and assistance to the Head of H&S/H&S Advisor.
3. Assist and carry out all occupational health and safety duties under the guidance of the Head of H&S.
4. Maintain and coordinate various training programs and follow up on any required actions.
5. Review and maintain the First Aid kit provision at all WSP India offices.
6. Update and issue travel consultants to all expats traveling to India. Handle the H&S Intranet page and H&S server, maintaining all documentation.
7. Perceive issues raised by employees on iSMS, communicate with them, understand their concern, and coordinate with P&A and IT teams to get it reviewed and resolved.
8. Assist in internal/external audits Coordinate the local implementation of the India H&S strategy, H&S Management System in line with ISO 45001 and the Global Expectations for Managing Health and Safety.
9. Coordinate as directed by the head of H&s/H&S Advisor collaboratively with the internal teams and stakeholders to ensure the Health and Safety Management System is effectively implemented locally.
10. Assist in assessing the H&S training needs, plan and organize the necessary H&S training programs to cover the employees based in WSP India office.
11. Assist in monitoring the H&S performance periodically and communicate to the Head of H&S.
12. Ensure emergency preparedness and response planning is up-to-date for local emergencies and the arrangements for expats and international travelers.
13. Support the internal teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation pertaining to health and safety.
14. Maintain our internal iSMS (Integrated Safety Management System an online tool) for incidents and observations statistics and other H&S related activities.
15. Ensure that near misses and incidents are investigated and the findings and root causes are addressed appropriately to prevent recurrence and the key learnings are shared business-wide.
16. Assist in performing premises risk assessments and premise compliance inspections at the defined frequency or as and when needed.
17. Support the business in local H&S related procurements to facilitate better execution of the H&S requirements within the business.
18. Ensure adequate information, advisories, and notices on H&S matters are communicated to the local relevant groups on time through various means of communications.
19. Support the Head of H&S in implementing relevant occupational health and well-being programs in Bangalore.
20. Support the Head of H&S in all H&S promotional activities and campaigns within the Bangalore office.
21. Support the Head of H&S in executing H&S Projects to cater to the lead region requirements.

Qualifications:

• Engineering Graduate
• NEBOSH/Diploma Safety
• Occupational Health and Safety Management in an office environment
• H&S Management System (OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001) implementation
• Basic knowledge on H&S Risk Assessments, Conducting H&S Inspections, Conducting H&S Training, Coordinating with number of stakeholders
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office tools
• Internal Auditor for ISO 45001
